WHAT IS THE NO 1 RULE FOR APPLYING MAKEUP?

Jay Jay has two rules that are very important for applying makeup.

The first makeup rule is BLEND, BLEND, BLEND.

The second makeup rule is LESS IS MORE.

Other important considerations for Jay Jay are:

Choosing the right look for the client's hair and eye colour, and

Choosing the right tones of foundation for each individual skin colour.

There are about 5 standard looks that can match any nationality.

The base needs to be selected carefully to match the particular skin tone.

The makeup for a bride must look fresh, natural yet beautiful, and glamorous.

Jay Jay firstly ascertains the theme, style and colours of the wedding and the wedding dress or clothes. Then she recommends which look would be best.

Yes Jay Jay has well over 20 years experience with hair styling in the fashion and wedding industry. She is very familiar with ‘up-styles' that many brides like for their wedding.

IS THERE A MAKEUP TRIAL PRIOR TO THE WEDDING DATE?

Jay Jay conducts a makeup trial at her apartment in the Horizon building, Darlinghurst, at a time convenient for clients.

These trials are often held after business hours for the convenience of people who have day jobs.

At the trial, Jay Jay discusses the possible designs and colour of the makeup and hair style.

She then tries out the look on the bride. When she is happy with the look the bride pays a 20% deposit to secure the day.

The trial usually takes 1 to 1 ½ hours.

CAN I BRING MY BRIDESMAIDS AND OTHER MEMBERS OF MY BRIDAL PARTY TO THE MAKEUP TRIAL?

Yes. Pease feel free to bring other members of your bridal party to the makeup trial. Their comments and input are very welcome.

SHOULD I BRING PICTURES TO A WEDDING MAKEUP TRIAL?

Yes. Pictures are always useful to see what makeup colours and hair styles you prefer.

CAN I USE MY OWN HAIR PIECE ?

Yes you can use your own hair piece.

Hair pieces are only a consideration for girls who like to enhance the length or body of their hair. At the trial Jay Jay will try out the look that the bride would like to achieve.

Making decisions at the trial saves time and makes it easier on the wedding day itself.

WHAT ARE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN A BRIDAL PARTY FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP?

Jay Jay has managed makeup for up to 10 people in a wedding party. In that case Jay Jay brings in an Assistant with her to ensure everybody looks their best on the day.

Large numbers may require an earlier start however that would be discussed prior to the day.

HOW FAR AHEAD SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR WEDDING MAKEUP ARTIST?

It is advisable to book your wedding makeup artist 6-12 months in advance or at least make an Inquiry. Jay Jay is sometimes booked 18 months in advance.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO DO YOUR OWN MAKEUP AT YOUR WEDDING?

Some brides get a thrill from doing their own makeup and hair on their wedding day.

Jay Jay's Makeup School Sydney is a 6 week course for those who want to become a Makeup Artist.

If the bride wants to learn how to create her own look then a one-on-one lesson is best. The recommended time for this is 2 hours.
